Where many had to leave left, there are those who were lucky enough to stay. Standing proud on these lands that have seen so much over the years. Running a farm in Reenard, South Kerry and raising a family of ten children is no small feat, which farmer Joe McCrohan Sr and his wife of over 50 years, Mae, have achieved with a lot of graft, wisdom and determination. The rewards were worth it. He has everything to be proud of, this is his Kingdom here in the kingdom of Kerry. Joe reminisces: “where could be a better place to work in the whole world than in these green fields with the Ocean at the bottom of them and a flock of children, teaching them about the land and sharing the work”.
