Our Distillery & Visitor Experience is located right here on the Coastline, in Cahersiveen where the mountains meet the sea. The same wild landscape that motivated sixth-century monks to build their monastery 11km out in the Atlantic Ocean. From a small landing cove on granite rock, they crafted six hundred and eighteen steps to reach their monastery on the top of Skellig Michael.
This feat, their journey, inspires Skellig Six18 today.

Distilled in the picturesque town of Cahersiveen, where rugged mountains meet the serene sea, Skellig Six18 is more than just a gin. It’s a tribute to the region’s rich history, inspired by the legendary sixth-century monks who built their monastery on Skellig Michael (The island was used to film the planet Ahch-To for the latest Star Wars trilogy) , located 7 miles of the Kerry coast, ascending over six hundred steps from a remote landing cove.
The gin’s distinct flavor comes from four specially chosen wild botanicals: Douglas Fir, Birch, Yarrow, and Dillisk. These ingredients were selected with the guidance of renowned Irish Chef, Ross Lewis, ensuring a blend that’s not only authentically Irish but also has a global appeal. Each botanical contributes its unique flavor profile, creating a gin that truly represents the essence of the Skellig Coast.
Crafted in small batches with meticulous care, Skellig Six18 is distilled and hand-finished in our home of Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry. The selection of local botanicals is a deliberate choice, aiming to capture the true essence of our homeland in every bottle.
The making of Skellig Six18 has been a collaborative journey. Our team worked closely with local farmers and foragers to ensure the authenticity and quality of our ingredients. Sea-foraging experts, John and Kerryann Fitzgerald, provide us with Irish Dillisk from the pristine beaches of Derrynane, while Paul Quinn from Nádúr Collective shared his extensive foraging knowledge, helping us to discover the best of our local landscape.
